It is processed with chromium trioxide to delay its absorption rate, making it ideal for use in soft tissues that require moderate wound support. Chromic catgut sutures are typically absorbed within 90-120 days.
Chromic catgut sutures are available in a variety of sizes, ranging from 0 (the largest) to 3-0 (the smallest). They are also available with a variety of needle types, including round body, reverse cutting, and tapercut.
