Triage Tag Cards

Triage tag cards are a vital tool for medical personnel during mass casualty incidents. They allow first responders to quickly and accurately assess the severity of each victim’s injuries and prioritize treatment accordingly. Triage tag cards are also used to track patients throughout the treatment process and ensure that they receive the care they need in the most efficient manner possible.

Triage tag cards are typically made of durable, waterproof material and include the following information:

• Patient demographics, such as name, age, and gender
• Vital signs, such as heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure
• Level of consciousness
• Mechanism of injury
• Triage priority level (red, yellow, green, or black)
• Treatment provided

Triage tag cards are typically color-coded to correspond with the triage priority level:

• Red: Life-threatening injuries that require immediate treatment
• Yellow: Serious injuries that require prompt treatment, but the patient is not in immediate danger of death
• Green: Minor injuries that can be treated later
• Black: Patients who are deceased or have injuries that are incompatible with life
